Position Summary:
Develop calibration and strategy for industrial engines operating on LPG, gasoline or compressed natural gas to meet performance and emissions required. Supply input and direction for development of engine calibration and management strategies. Be familiar with all aspects of the engine management system including performance, emissions, diagnostics, hardware interface and software operation. Be capable of reading and understanding embedded software to a level where strategies can be assessed and modified if required. Should be familiar with industrial lift truck and stationary industrial engine operating requirements as well as EPA and CARB emissions requirements and testing procedures. Must be able to assist and give direction to other engine technicians and calibration engineers.
Responsibilities:
· Analyze engine system and develop appropriate control parameters values to create an operating calibration
· Recognize need for control system strategy changes and works with code developer to implement and test these changes
· Organize, schedule and implement all engine testing including: drivability, emission, hot fuel, handling, cold starting and catalyst testing
· Design and develop fuel introduction systems for different engines to meet any emission requirements
· Analyze, diagnose and develop solutions to in-field performance problems
· Give guidance and direction to other calibration engineers and engine technicians
· Travel required - up to 25%
· Other duties as required
Qualifications:
· 5 to 8 years work experience
· Knowledge of engines and vehicle systems
· Hands-on experience with engine dynamometers, emissions equipment and data acquisition systems
· General engine/automotive experience
Education:
* Relevant Engineering Degree
